Board of Directors
President – Pam Munici (Area 1)
Hello pig friends, I’m excited to be on board as a member of NAPPA. I love pigs, and I now have a constructive outlet to do some good for our potbellied pigs. As a new member my goal is to become actively involved and really make a difference in the future development of NAPPA. I’d like to see this group become more active, but one person can’t do it alone, so I hope together we can help breathe new life into NAPPA.
I recognize the value of passionate teamwork and commitment in providing responsive, effective information, education to pig owners, and the general public. Whether you’re a pig owner or a friend of potbellied pigs, I would like to think of NAPPA as your first source of information, and gateway related to potbellied pigs. I look forward to advancing our mission through collaborative partnerships. Together, we will make continuous progress in improving the lives of our piggies who daily rely on our care. I hope that my experience with NAPPA will be challenging, enjoyable, and rewarding. I welcome your input and feedback on subjects that are important to you and your potbellied pigs and the future development of NAPPA.
Vice President - Cathy McAlister
Hello pig lovers everywhere. I am a farmer in Tennessee, I have many animal friends, but my best friends are my pigs. Priscilla is my big baby, a 800 lb Yorkshire sow, in which I just wrote a children’s book about. ‘Priscilla the Peppermint Pig’. Then there is Ms. Piggy and Porkchop both pbp’s and then Paddington and Pasqulie twin mini pbp’s. They are all true joy in my life. I also have 2 quarter horses, 45 holstein dairy cows and 3 bulls that are just big babies themselves, Nanny an older goat that is Priscilla’s room mate and sleeps on her back, and 2 Polish bunny rabbits.
I feel very honored to be on the board of directors for NAPPA. I have now found a wonderful resource to help answer peoples questions about pigs, educate and promote awareness about our pig friends. I hope together we can strive to do to the very best for everyone involved. I look forward to doing my part and helping anyway possible.

Board Member - Cyndi Berry (Area 3)
Cyndi Berry and potbellied pigs go back at least 20 years, having bought her first for $3,000. Cyndi still has her Zoe, who is now 17 yrs old and once was the diva house pig. Zoe lives with 2 other elder pigs in their own elder wing. Having gotten into breeding Kunekune pigs and starting the Kunekune Preserve, USA the pots are outnumbered, but still hold a place in her heart. Cyndi has worked with various cities in North Carolina to change the zoning to allow potbellied pigs as household pets. Cyndi has 46 Kunes, 16 potbelly pigs, 2 feral pigs and a Russian Boar piglet, along with Mini Donkeys. mini horse and Nigerian Dwarf goats. With all these animals out to pasture, it takes 2 Great Pyrenees and a German Shepherd to keep them safe.
During the Katrina disaster Cyndi and another pig owner were sponsored by NAPPA and went into the area to help with the potbelly pigs that ended up homeless, since then she has joined the HSUS first response team.

I have had potbellied pigs for 18 1/2 yrs, Olivia is my first pig and the other 4 are rescues. I work for an environmental consulting firm that specializes in the operations of water and wastewater facilities. I volunteer at a local farm animal sanctuary called the Catskill Animal Sanctuary where I get to spoil many potbellied pig and farm pigs alike. I love to educate people on pigs and work with those who may think that they want to adopt them. I was sorry to hear about the little pig with the bad hip. I went to a seminar with Dr. Wilbers and there was a women attending the seminar from Virginia that had a tiny potbelly named Louie. Louie was born with no bones in his back legs. Dr. Wilbers had done some reconstructive surgery on him so he had some use of his rear legs and another vet had made him a special wheelchair. That pig zipped around the room during the entire seminar and when he got his wheels caught on your chair, he let you know. It is sad that they all can’t be saved like Louie.

I live in Calgary, Alberta, (Canada) where pot bellied pigs are fewer in numbers than in the US. I am Mom to 3 kids and adopted Mom to one pot bellied pig – Georgie. Being the challenging creature that he is, NAPPA was a huge resource for me in those early days. Now, 3 1/2 years later, things are getting easier… sometimes almost ideal… but I find there is always lots to be learned. NAPPA started me on my way to having a piggy social network. Because of NAPPA , I have made lasting friendships, have found good pig feed, and good training and veterinary advice. Because of having a pig, I have rethought many things in life and think I am a better person for it. I am honored to be a part of this group.
