NappaNet, an Internet Service Provider, was established as a part of NAPPA. This ISP provides the opportunity for NAPPA to have regular monthly income. From the net income of NappaNet we can fund NAPPA's old and new projects. Currently we have twelve independent domains on our server. Scott Gurley provides all the technical support and runs NappaNet's day to day operations. The NAPPA Board of Directors is responsible for approving policies and the general operation of this NAPPA business. For more information go to www.nappanet.com
NAPPA now offers for sale an excellent, generic Registry Database Software. Scott Gurley designed this database software. In the near future NAPPA plans to offer for sale to the general public a multi-breeder Database Software package. NAPPA will be marketing both of these software programs for the purpose of providing continuing income to the projects of NAPPA, from the net proceeds of sales.
NAPPA has expanded its website to more than 350 pages of information about the care and training of the potbellied pig. This site grows monthly with the addition of new articles and information. Currently the NAPPA domain receives well over 12,000 "hits" each month. We have added Announcement Pages for in-house and also for requests from different groups outside of NAPPA. We recently added a Conference Room to the site for online meetings and discussions. For more information or just to drop by for a chat go to www.petpigs.com/../index.htm
NAPPA has produced two new brochures, "Living With A Potbellied Pig From One Year to Five Years" and "The Veterinarian and the Potbellied Pig". This brings NAPPA's number of printed brochures to 14.
NAPPA edited an Animal Training Manual, which was provided to us by Dolphin Encounters. This professional manual is offered to pet owners serious about training their pet pig.
NAPPA won a Certificate of Appreciation from the Pigs as Pets Association.
Under the Leadership of Nancy Shepherd, NAPPA currently has eleven Certified Breeders and five Certified Shelters.
Louise Baldwin continues to edit and to publish NAPPA's excellent Newsletter. This wonderful resource is offered each month to all subscribers.
Janie Finck established a new service for NAPPA when she took on the responsibility of responding to all of NAPPA's requests for help or information, which comes to us via the Internet.
Now to the future. This year NAPPA plans on continuing the expansion of information to the general public via the Internet. We also will be increasing the number of web sites on NappaNet. Custom web programming is available to anyone interested in placing a personal or professional site on the NappaNet. Just contact Scott Gurley or Kathleen Myers. Don't forget if you already have a site or are having someone else do the site for you, let NappaNet be your service provider. We will be happy to upload your current site free of charge.
Remember that NAPPA is always open to any suggestions you might have regarding the improvement of NAPPA services to the potbellied pig community. If you have ideas that you think would help other pigs and their humans just let me know. Almost all of our services and projects have started just that way. Someone had the idea and NAPPA helped to sponsor it. Also, if you would like to help us please give me a call or drop me an email. I look forward to hearing from each of you.
In the meantime, be sure and
Have a Pig Happy Day,
Kathleen
